In the Business Process Task Settings unit (fig. 1), you can configure process execution settings. This setting is correlated with the setting Change responsible when entering the swimlane which is configured in ELMA Designer in static swimlane settings on the Advanced tab.

Execute on behalf of the user responsible for the instance
1. If you choose yes (set by default):
Regardless of how the setting Change responsible when entering the swimlane is configured, the user responsible for the process instance is selected as the author of all the tasks (by default, it is the initiator of the process). In this case, the responsible user has access to all the tasks of the process, receives all notifications on process tasks, and can answer questions of task executors. This means that such notifications give the responsible user a broad picture of the progress, and he/she can control and monitor the process instance.
Regardless of how the setting Change responsible when entering the swimlane is configured, the user responsible for the process instance is selected as the author of the first task of the process instance (by default, it is the initiator of the process). A user who competes a task will be specified as the author of the following task. In this case, the user responsible for the process instance has access only to the task in his or her swimlanes; task notifications will be send to task authors, and not to the user responsible for the process instance. Many processes are modeled in such a way that after a user completes a task, he or she is not involved in the following tasks. However, notifications on tasks are sent to their authors, in this case, to users who are not responsible for execution of these exact tasks.
If this setting is selected, it is impossible for one single user to see the full picture of the process task progress. It may be useful to those organizations where the majority of processes are designed in such a way that the executor of a task must also be the author of the following task. If there are no such requirements, we recommend setting the Execute on behalf of the user responsible for the instance to Yes.
Note
If in swimlane settings in ELMA Designer the boxChange responsible when entering the swimlane is checked, the responsible for the process instance will change to the executor of the current swimlane. Otherwise (if the box is unchecked), the responsible for the instance will not be changed.
If the user responsible for the process instance is locked, but there are process tasks that must be assigned to him/her, these tasks will be assigned to the direct supervisor of the locked user (i.e., to the first unlocked user above in the organizational structure).
