To enable control of business processes from external systems, there are certain steps you have to take either when publishing the process or in the Process Start Variants section of the Settings tab of the process page:
Tick to select the From external option;
Generate a token with the Generate button or type it in manually;
Select the external system that you plan to use;
Publish the process.
The process is then published with the token as its unique key. Tokens allow you to access a specific ELMA business process from an external application.

Note that the Token field is editable, meaning that you can specify the token yourself. Make sure that the token value is unique. You cannot use similar tokens for different business processes, because the token and the process must be strictly related in order for a process instance to launch.
If you disable the Manually option in the Process Start Variants section, users will not be able to start the process from Web Application. Yet, starting the process from external systems will still be possible.
