In case a process instance was started by mistake, or became irrelevant at any of its stages, you can interrupt it (in other words, terminate the process).
You can do this, if you have permissions to interrupt a process instance. By default, these permissions are granted to the process owner and process instance initiator. Permissions to urgently terminate a process can be assigned on the access to processes page in the Process Interruptionsection.
If users have permissions to terminate a process, then the Interrupt option will be shown in the toolbar of the process instance page (Fig. 1). Clicking on this button opens the page where you can add a comment (Fig. 2). You can interrupt a process instance without adding a comment but it is advisable to type descriptive comments so that other users had no questions.

After adding a comment, click Interrupt. Current process tasks will be cancelled and the process instance will have the "Interrupted by User" status. Entries about interruption of the process instance (with comments) will be displayed in the History panel (Fig. 3).
