Create Subtask

Parent task – is the task, divided into sub-tasks.
To create a sub-task, click Actions – Create Sub-Task on the task page (fig. 1).

In the opened window (fig. 2) select the new sub-task type, and the fields to move to the sub-task. Click OK. To select fields, check the boxes next to them.
The list of available sub-task types depends on the parent task type. If you create a sub-task for a user task, in the Select sub-task type field, User Task is selected by default, and you cannot change it.

The opened page (fig. 3) is similar to the task creation page.

Note, that if the Start Date and Due Date fields are filled in in the parent task and you check the Due Date box (fig. 2), then both dates will be copied to the sub-task. If the Due Date box is not checked, only the parent task start date will be copied.
Fill in the required fields and click Save.
When you attempt to complete a task, which has active sub-tasks, a warning dialog box will open, notifying that there are active sub-tasks (fig. 8). If you click Yes, active sub-tasks will remain in the system.

Note, that the nesting of sub-tasks is unlimited.
The task execution window will open (fig.5) displaying the additional Copy attachments from sub-tasks area that features all attachments in sub-tasks. Select the required ones and when that task is completed, the selected files will be attached to the parent task.

How a sub-task is displayed to a user
The interface of a sub-task is similar to that of a regular task. The only difference is that a sub-task has an additional tab named Parent Task (<Task name>) (fig. 6).

This tab features a link to the parent task, the sub-task due date, and attached files (if any). This tab is displayed only if the current user has access to the parent task according to their role and/or job position in the organizational structure.
