Numbered lists in document templates
For numbered lists to display correctly in document templates, the following conditions must be met:
1. Single list
A single list contains organized items that belong only to this list. This list may have one or several levels, most importantly, all the items must have automatic numeration.
To add automatic numeration to the list items in MS Office select the list and click the Numeration button in the toolbar (fig. 1). To display additional numeration options, click .

You can check if the list is created correctly by selecting one of the items on each level - all the other items on the level should be highlighted automatically (fig. 2).
Fig. 2. Correct list
An example of an incorrect list is shown in fig. 3. Not all the items belong to one list. On the top level, the list is broken after the second item, on the second level - after the third item and on the third level - after the second item. It is shown by the highlighting of the items.

2. Parallel numbering
You can use parallel lists in a document template (fig. 4), which must meet the first condition. You also must apply different styles for each of them. Styles are created and configured in the MS Word toolbar (fig. 4).

After creating a correct parallel list, save the template, update it in the system and check the document generation. To learn more about creating, configuring and applying styles, see this article.
