Digital Signature

Digital Signature is a document property that contains information encrypted by means of public-key cryptography. It authenticates the signer and verifies that the document has not been altered since the moment it was signed.
A digital signature, authenticating the signatory, can be used instead of a handwritten signature in cases recognized by law.
Documents can be signed only if you have the ECM+ application activated and the required settings configured. The settings are configured by the system administrator in Administration – System – System Settings – Digital Signature .
ELMA can store several signed versions of one document, but only one version can be Current. After having been signed, the document version cannot be changed. To make changes, you have to create a new document version.
You can sign documents with a digital signature or without it. You can use a digital signature when signing, approving and getting acquainted with the document.
For signing document versions, a user has to have Edit permissions to the document or higher.
Each document version can be signed by several users. Whether the document versions have or do not have signatures, can bee seen on the Versions tab of the document page (fig. 1).
