The Document Barcoding application allows adding barcodes to documents in ELMA (fig. 1).

A barcode is generated when registering a document based on the document registration number and is displayed on the document page, General Information tab, Document Attributes unit (fig. 2). The barcode image is stored in a .bmp file and can be downloaded to the local computer and printed.

A paper document with a barcode allows you to quickly find the page of the required document in the system.
You can print a barcode separately and attach it to a document. If a document is generated by a template, then the barcode can be added to a document page.
ELMA allows adjusting the appearance and size of generated barcodes. The most popular barcode formats are supported – EAN-13, PDF417 and QR-code – as well as the devices for reading and printing barcodes.
To add a barcode to a document page, insert the BarcodeFile variable in the document template. The variable stores the barcode (fig. 4).

Fig. 1 shows an example of a document generated from the template.
Printing a barcode at registration
If you configure respective settings, a document barcode can be printed after registering the document.
To set up barcode printing at registration:
configure barcode printing settings in Administration – System – System Settings – Barcode Generation Settings;
after registering a document, you will see a dialog box, which allows you to print the generated barcode (fig. 5);

to print the barcode, click Yes, to cancel click No. You can also check the Do not show again box if you do not want the dialog box to appear after registration.
