Start Process Task

This task is used for starting a business process at a particular project stage. The business process must contain an input variable of the "Start Business Process (Object)" type. To learn more, see the respective Help section.
Such a task can last several days and be a sub-task. To be able to add a task of this type, you have to configure particular settings in ELMA Designer.
Tasks of this type are displayed only in the project plan and have the icon (fig. 1). You will also see the icon and the Map link next to the task name. The link opens the process map in a new browser tab (fig. 1).

When you click on the icon, a dialog box (fig. 2) with information on all the tasks on this process is displayed. To open the task page, click its name. Note, that you can open the task page only after it has been assigned to the executor.

If the process is not yet started, the dialog box will look like this (fig. 3):

Note, that a start business process task is considered overdue (highlighted red in the project plan) if at least one process task is overdue (fig. 1).
Fig. 4 shows an example of the process start task page in the web application. This page may contain the following tabs: About Task, Parent Task, and Time Report.
The About Task tab displays the task information (project, process instance, end date, author, executors, creation date and status), and the history panel.

A process start task can have one of these statuses: New, Read, Executing, Completed, Cannot Execute, Closed by the author. To learn more about these statuses, see the respective Help section.

Return to the previous page.
Edit the task in the project plan. This button is unavailable for tasks with the Completed status.
Interrupt the business process.
When you click this button a dialog box opens, where you have to click Interrupt Process. You can add a comment, if necessary. This button is available only if the linked process has the Current status.
Restart the process if it is completed with an error. The previous process instance will be automatically interrupted.
When you click this button, a dialog box opens, where you have to click Restart Process. You can add a comment, if necessary. This button is unavailable for tasks with the Completed status.
Click this button to view the process map.
This button is only available to the users who have permissions to edit the project plan (fig. 5).  When you click this button, a dialogue box opens for you to select one of the available options:
  • Re-open and edit opens the task for editing. Regardless of the edits made or of the project plan being published, the task will be re-opened. In this case, you will need to restart the process manually by clicking Restart in the top menu.
  • Re-open and restart process re-opens the task and restarts the process automatically.
  • Click Cancel if you don't want to re-open the task.
