Examples of Project Processes

When changing a project stage, you can start a process, required for changing the stage. This feature allows assigning tasks to users, whose completion would guarantee fulfilment of this project stage.

Changing a project stage in ELMA Designer

As an example, let us consider an Equipment Implementation project, where a user has to attach project documents in order to change the project stage from "Draft" to "Active". Only after the documents are attached, the project will be published.
You can create a process, bound to a project type, on the Processes tab of ELMA Designer (fig. 1). You will later be able to select it on the Life Cycle tab of a project.  Add the Publish Project and Change Project Stage activities (in that order) to the graphic model of the created process.

Open the Context tab of this process and add "Project Stage (Object)", "Equipment Implementation (Project)" variables (fig. 2). Check the Input box for the variables. These variables are used to specify a process when editing transitions between stages on the Life Cycle tab of the required project.

Save and publish the process. It will be available for selecting in the transitions between stages.
To change a transition between stages, go to the Projects tab and open the Life Cycle tab of the required project page. Click the transition name in the Transition column (fig. 3).

Note, that you will be able to select processes (including processes of parent project types), which have context variable of the Equipment Implementation (Project) type or "Base Project Type" (fig. 5).

To save changes in the project type and display the in the web application, publish it and restart the server.

Transition between stages in the web application

Create a project of the Equipment Implementation type in the web application. Click Change Stage on the project page in the top menu. Select the Active stage in the opened dialog box and click Set (fig. 6).

The project page will display a notification, that a process for changing the stage is started (fig. 7).

The user, who started the process, will receive a process task (fig. 8) to add the project documents.
Add the required document on the process task page and complete the task. After the document is added and the project is published, the stage will change to Active.
