The text data type holds a sequence of characters considered as a single whole in the context of the variable. This data type is used to enter relatively large pieces of text data such as descriptions.
In Web Application, the Text field looks as shown in Fig. 1, which features an editing form field.

When you select Text in the Type *field, additional fields appear on the Common and Advanced tabs in addition to the basic fields.
Common tab
Fig. 2 shows the additional fields that appear if the Text type is selected on the Common tab.

In the Default Value field you can specify the value that will be used by default in Web Application.
Advanced tab
The additional fields for the Text type that appear on the Common tab are similar to the fields of the String type. For more information, see the corresponding Help page.
