Processes

A business process is a series of logically related, structured activities that produce a specific service or product for customers.
A business process can be broken into several sub-processes, which have their own attributes, but also contribute to achieving the goal of the parent business process. The development of business processes typically includes modeling of processes and sub-processes.
Business processes are designed to add value for the customer and should not include unnecessary activities. The outcome of a well-designed business process is increased effectiveness (value for the customer) and increased efficiency (less costs for the company).
The ELMA BPM Platform implements the concept of BPM, allowing you to create flexible and adaptive information systems that can quickly change along with the company's business processes. Using the ELMA BPM application you can control the organization's business processes, make them accurate and formalized.
The ELMA BPM Platform has many features for managing business processes, however, they all can be divided into four groups according to the stages of the Plan-Do-Check-Act Cycle (Deming Cycle):
Before you start modeling, you need to define the company business processes to be able to distinguish one process from others.
The main processes constitute the core of the business and add value for the customer; supporting processes supply an organization with resources; and finally, management processes govern the operation of an object.
It is important to avoid one common mistake: do not classify business processes according to the activities of a particular department. The majority of business processes are end-to-end processes that involve several departments, since they all are elements of one system: departments interact and this interaction forms a business process.

Business processes based on the ELMA BPM Platform are modeled and improved in ELMA Designer. All the created, configured and published processes are executed in ELMA Web Application. You can execute business processes created in ELMA Designer in ELMA Web Application.
A business process created in ELMA Designer is called a "business process model", a "business process" or just a "process".
A business process started in ELMA Web Application is called a "business process instance" or just a "process instance".
The life cycle of a process based on the ELMA BPM Platform comprises the following stages:
To create a business process, open the Processes tab in ELMA Designer. You will see the list of all currently available processes.
